Mr. Camden

Howdy!

I'm Mr. Camden, a passionate science enthusiast and educator. By day, you can find me in the classroom or lab at KAA, but after the final bell rings, my focus shifts to CLASP, the Creative Learning Art and STEM Program.

My journey into the world of science began in middle school as a member of a Destination Imagination team, where I honed my problem-solving and improv skills, turning into a four-time global finalist by the time I graduated from Spotswood High School. I continued my academic pursuits at Virginia Tech, earning a BS in Microbiology in 2020 while gaining invaluable research experience in the Tu mosquito genetics lab.

While COVID challenged my immediate plans after graduation, I soon found myself setting up a new parasite research lab as a lab technician, soon relocating to Northern Virginia and joined KAA as a Science Teacher and Lab Assistant in 2022. I also had the opportunity to assist in coaching both soccer and wrestling teams, further developing my leadership skills.

CLASP was born out of a passion for making science accessible and engaging. I've seen firsthand the power of hands-on learning, and the dangers of a disengaged classroom. CLASP offers unique and enriching experiences that complement traditional classroom instruction, sparking curiosity and fostering critical thinking skills. By providing opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, we aim to ignite a lifelong love of learning and discovery.

BISCUIT

This is Biscuit, scientifically the best cat and CLASP's unofficial mascot. With her playful paws, she's always kneading imaginary dough, preparing the world's cutest biscuits. Her soft fur and purrs are the ultimate comfort, and her unwavering belief in my work makes her my most trusted business advisor, a role she takes very seriously.
