About the event
In this laboratory exercise, we will reimagine the traditional egg drop challenge. Instead of designing a device to protect an egg from the impact of gravity, participants will develop a vehicle to safeguard a partially exposed egg from collisions with competitors' egg vehicles.
Teams of students must maintain their vehicles' balance on a pair of strings as their vehicle is released in a pendulum motion toward the opposing vehicle. Students can make defensive or offensive attachments, but it is required that the egg is positioned at the top of the vehicle. Please read the attached document for details.
On the day of the competition, all teams will receive the same materials and time limit (about 1 hour) to construct their devices in the lab. Students may form teams of up to four members before the competition date and are encouraged to experiment with various designs at home. Refer to the…
